Your Facets Doctor
Dr.
Charles Johnston, the founder and President of Facets Private
Healthcare Group, specializes in both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics.
His unusual ability to build friendly and trusting relationships
with his patients has earned him a loyal following over the better
part of two decades in practice.
His unwavering pursuit of a career in medicine began at the tender
age of five, stemming from his admiration for his own childhood
pediatrician, Dr. T. Berry Brazelton. Dr. Johnston grew up in
Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he attended The University School
of Milwaukee, a private K-12 school. He still ranks his years
there as his toughest academic challenge! After a move to Washington,
DC, he finished his last year of high school at Bethesda - Chevy
Chase High while working part-time at the Smithsonian Institution.
Returning to the Midwest, he graduated early from The University
of Chicago with an AB in Biology, and subsequently from the University
of Illinois Medical School, where he earned his MD. He completed
his residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at the University
of Illinois Hospital and the Veterans Administration Hospital,
West Side. He has been in private practice since.
Dr. Johnston is affiliated with a number of hospitals, including
Children’s Memorial Hospital, Gottlieb Memorial Hospital,
and Mercy Hospital. He is a member of the American Medical Association,
the American College of Physicians and American Society of Internal
Medicine, and he is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Additionally, he served as the Medical Director of one of the
largest Independent Physicians Associations in Chicago, with over
30,000 HMO patients. It was his extensive experience with HMOs
that convinced him that there had to be a better way to take care
of patients.
Dr. Johnston is a loving family man, having found a medical school
classmate who became a soul mate. He and his wife Barbara were
married while in medical school, and are now blessed to be the
parents of three wonderful children. In his spare time
Dr. Johnston enjoys cooking, music, good wine, bad golf, and playing
with his kids. His belief that the status quo in health care today
is not good enough is the driving force behind the exceptional
level of personalized care at Facets; his vision is to take
care of every patient as if they were members of his own family.
"Above all else . . . Do what’s
best for the patient."
